CAN-Bus HID kits
An advanced bulb warning system is installed in newer motorcycles, mainly in BMW bikes from 2005 onwards. This CAN-Bus system cuts out the power to the headlights if bulbs are running at less than 55W. Since HID bulbs are only 35W, this safety feature can interfere with common HID kits and cause flickering and possible radio interference. If your motorcycle has this system, you need to purchase a CAN-Bus HID kit to prevent false bulb warnings.
Slim digital ballasts
Many kits make use of the new slim digital ballasts with separate starter. This improves reliability and saves on space and weight. They are simple to install and easier maintained. Motorcycles are gaining popularity in the American culture and they are now being seen on TV. Though motorcycles have been around for a while there has been a certain stigma related to them. Though the show originally focused on Richie Cunningham and his friends, Fonzie was a favorite of audiences and became a central character as the others changes story lines.
In today’s TV era we get a more raw depiction of bike riders and their culture on the drama series Sons of Anarchy. The show is about the relationships between everyone involved in the outlaw motorcycle club. The show takes place in California and follows Jackson “Jax” Teller as he handles his duties of being Vice President but also we see what happens when he begins to question the club and himself. We can see the relationship struggles with the characters but also with the motorcycle club and their rivals.
A lot of shows on Tv are now reality series. So why not make one about the life of motorcycle riders. On the discovery channel or TLC you can catch American Choppers. This reality series follows Paul Teutal, Sr. and Paul Teutal Jr. as they manufacture custom motorcycles. The show focuses on the disagreements between the father/son duo and shows how they often butt heads on their designs. The show then became American Choppers: Senior v. Junior. Paul Teutal Jr. has left the show twice now and is in a legal battle with his father over buying out his shares of Orange County Choppers. He currently owns 20% and him and his father cannot agree on the buyout price so it remains an ongoing battle. The show has since inspired two different video games as well as a fantasy bike contest. During the contest four winners won O CC bikes.
All of these shows portray motorcycle life and culture in a different way. We now know that there is no way to truly categorize this group of individuals because they are all so different. Just like our society the motorcycle world consists of people from all walks of life.
How to Choose BMX Racing Bike
When looking at BMX bikes, there are many important decisions to be made. How much money do I want to spend? What is more important: a lightweight bike or a durable one? Do I want to ride mostly on the streets or in the dirt? Knowing the answers to these questions can lead to you finding your perfect bike.
There are three styles of BMX bikes: classic BMX, jump bikes and freestyle BMX. What you will be doing with your bike gives you a good idea of which is right for you. If you intend to ride mostly on asphalt, choose the classic BMX (though it is dirt ready if you want to hit the track) or the freestyle BMX (sturdier, and equipped with road tires). Jump bikes are great if you want to ride on ramps, and freestyle bikes are perfect for trick cycling on the street, in the dirt and at a skate park. Freestyle bikes are built the sturdiest of all BMX bikes, so they come out of the shop ready to take a beating.
What type of frame is right for you? Steel(Chromoly) frames are cheaper and sturdier, so they make sense for trick bikes- if you intend to beat up your bike, best to buy one with an affordable replacement cost. Aluminum frames are lightweight, so they are more convenient for casual or street riders. The benefit of an aluminum frame for ramp and jump riding is that their lightness makes
the frame easier to lift. Another benefit of aluminum frames is that they don’t rust as quickly as steel frames.
Once you have these important differences sorted out, you need to decide on rims and breaks. Each bike has a style of rim generally associated with it, though you can deter from these standards: Freestyle bikes have mag or 48-spoke rims. Jumpers need strong rims, so they generally come with 48-spoke or 36 ultra-heavy-duty 13 gauge spokes. Classic BMX bikes come with 32-spoke rims.
BMX and jump bikes have rear brakes; freestyle bikes have front and rear. Though they can be tailored to your liking, these standards are generally followed, as they are what’s most logical for the styles of riding the bikes are designed for.
